Cheap Software FTW

I got my hands on Solidworks for a ridiculously good deal, so I have been learning it this past week as I used Unigraphics and Pro/ENGINEER in college. I made some parts and a full "dumb" model of a small block chevy with a Turbo 350 attached. Anyone thinking about building a buggy could use this model for designing their rig. If you want the files, send me a PM.

just curious.. but how long did it take to draw up the motor and everything... i know if i was drawing a dummy block, i would never go into that much detail lol...

Most of the parts were modeled by scaling from pictures imported into SW, so it goes pretty fast. It's a dummy assembly right now, but I'm currently working on modeling a crankshaft, con rods, and pistons so I can work on making a functional engine assembly, so I took more time in making the parts than I would if it were purely for use as a dummy block. I figure it will be good experience and hopefully look good to potential employers.

Piston-connecting rod assembly done. Now I am working on modifying the block I designed for the cylinder bores and main bearing surfaces.
