You can download a fully functional version of the Solidworks Student Design kit w/a 90 day license. Once it expires, use a different email address and get a new serial number. It has most of the functions of the professional version. If you have any questions about it, just ask.

do you like it better than autocad? cause thats what i'm using now, and i can not for the life of me figure out how to get this thing to 3D animate.

Here is the link. Are you talking about regular Autodesk AutoCAD? If so, then for solid modeling Solidworks is far superior and much easier to use. I have also used Pro/E, NX, CATIA, Rhino, and Alibre 3D CAD software. They all suck to learn. IMO Solidworks is the most user friendly of the enterprise 3D CAD packages. Solidworks and CATIA are both made by Dassault Systemes. CATIA is the gold standard of mechanical design. The vast majority of automobile, truck, train, ship, airplane, and helicopter manufacturers around the world use CATIA as their core PLM solution.

I currently use Autodesk AutoCAD 2006 Pro... stole it from my uncles old company and never reg'ed it thats the only way in hell i have a $1500 program
