Cell phones while driving

i learned to drive in new jersey therefore i am automatically better than anyone else on the road. i dont use my blinkers, i frequently change lanes and i talk all i want on the cell phone. and if anybody gives me attitude because i dont give a fuck i proudly salute them with the middle finger

last time i didnt wear a seatbelt i rolled a jeep over Most of the time my seatbelt is on before i even start the jeep. im just trained from doing it for years.

I still dont believe it, but if thats the case, than drinking and driving must be pretty fucking easy. Ive never drank and drove, ever. Even if i have one beer I wont even drive.

So I cant say i know how easy/ hard drinking and driving is, BUT, I have gotten hammered before, and if you are really really drunk, little things like walking straight and talking normal can be harder. I dont have a harder time doing things while txting/talking on the phone. I have talked on the phone for 2+ hours while driving on the highway before, I have txted the whole way from virginia to CT probably about 200 txts over the course of 8 hours, and I cant say i makes my driving worse, just takes my eyes off the road for a split second ( txting ) and maybe makes me alittle less alert when talking. I know for a fact though if you were drunk trying to drive perfect would be pretty hard, so I think that study you are talking about is flawed .

You are comparing being completely bombed to texting/talking while driving. Drunk driving is a very loose term, which could easily mean 4-8 beers over the course of a few hours, which isn't very hard to drive afterwards.

Granted It's a stupid idea, but I'm not going to lie, I've done it plenty of times before.

like dana said, its been studied and tested many times and its easily compared to drinking and driving. We are not talking about being drunk where you cant stand. Talking while on a cell phone is compared to being "buzzed" where you only had a few beer's and think your fine.

as to me personally? My jeep has no carpets, loud exhaust, no sound deadening, mud tires and 99% of my driving is 45mph or higher. I cant hear a word on my cell phone if im driving down the road. If I have a call and need to answer it, I have to pull over to the side of the road and talk.

i think driving after 8 beers is kinda pushing it, especially for someone with a smaller body (you ) , 8 beers would def put you over the legal limit, which is where the term "drunk driving" would come from, and I know what 8 beers does to me, not drunk but feeling good. I would think atleast for me driving after 8 beers would be a lot more unsafe then txting driving.

How did they prove this study? Other than my one close call of locking up my brakes at a red light, ive been txting/ talking / driving for 5 years now and have only had that one close call.

Over the course of one hour? You're right about that, It would put a normal sized man around .14, which is fairly drunk. But anybody drinking 8 beers over the course of an hour is obviously not planning on driving that night, unless they are asking to smack a tree or a telephone pole.

Spread those 8 beers over about 4 hours and you most likely would be somewhere around, or possibly below the .08 legal limit, depending on the person.

P.S. I weigh around 175 on a good day, which is pretty close to the benchmark of an "average male".

I hate seeing people driving while talking on their phones. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing people driving cars I know for a fact has bluetooth standard in their car and yet they continue to drive while talking on their phone. I keep a bluetooth in my car at all times and keep a wired headset as backup as well. I yell at everyone that I drive with who talks on the phone especially since it has been a law for 4+ years here in CT.
