my computer runs so much smoother on high performance vs balanced. is this really gonna kill my harddrive? i dont do anything to crazy

shouldn't effect you, some computers cant handle high performance mode for along time and will go into a thermal protection mode) ( computer will lock up). buts that's normally if your gaming that use's all your computer has for long period of time. What you should be asking is WHY you need to run the performance mode, computer parts are pretty cheap and maybe its time for a little upgrade.

computers almost brand new. i don't really "need" to run it in high performance. maybe i exagerated when i said so much smoother. the icons on my rocketdock get big a little smoother and i like that haha.

(yea thats the highlight of my computer experience. thats how crazy i am with computers)

high performance mode is "normal" mode.. anything else is lowering voltage to the processor/hard drive/etc to save energy and also slow things down.

ah got it. yea the other options are power save and balanced. and you can tell a difference when you pick them. i'm gonna leave it on high power. i got a 3 year warranty if it splodes

Is my computer defaulted into this high performance shit?

My Vista rating sucks because my "Desktop Performance for Windows Aero" blows. It's a 3.7 while everything else is much higher. How can I improve this Areo thing? Do I need a new vid card?

disable aero... or buy a mac
