So tonight i get home form work around 7:00, I have some dinner and a hot shower. Since i was home earlier than usual i thought i'd get in some ODST Firefight with some friends. I power on the Xbox Elite and.... RRoD, 3 light hardware failure. At this point its 8:05 and i look up the store hours for the nearest best buy which is 30 miles away. Website says they close at 9:00 and since i wasnt sure when the next time i was going to be home at a time when i could make the trip to Syracuse, i decided to make the run up there.
I make it there by 8:50 and i stand in line at the exchange line for a minute or two. I told the clerk what was up and his geek squad coworker verified the problem. He then scanned my best buy 2 year replacement receipt, I was instructed to snag yet another elite off the shelf and return to the counter.
Heres the good part....
1. Best buy was doing a bundle promotion, so i got an extra controller and charging cable, and HDMI cable since they no longer come in the box.
2. The new Xbox's come with the new Jasper motherboard which i was told no longer melts solder off the connections.
and 3. Since the price of xbox's dropped $100 since the purchase of my last one i was credited that amount and it paid for my new 2 year replacement warranty, so i left there with a new Xbox Elite with my old hard drive and didnt even open my wallet.
So anyway just thought i'd share, since this is my third Xbox and both times replacement at best buy was 100% hassle free and left happy.
