it obviously isnt the end of the world for everyone, or most...

lets say one day youre famous for one reason or another...or run for office, or anything...now your info and personal pictures are for sale..thats one example

people who say "whatever this doesnt effect me" is why shit like this is free to go on and spread like wildfire without any dissent. every single thing about you and your personal life on fbook is available to the highest bidder...ar ANY bidder id say. if u dont see any issue wit hthat, cool. i think its fucking ridiculous. especially the way they have it setup with "accepting" their TOS, therefore locking your info away, archived and not.

lets say i start a really successful media business...hooray now facebook can now market MY WORK indefinitely however they want in any form for any amount of money however much they want

its like doing freelance work for free on a grand scale.

We agreed to the terms when we originally signed up knowing they can change. Maybe people should expect something like this to happen and not upload things they do not want to be taken from them.

i probably wont delete the whole thing but def more cautious about waht i put up there. i was always hesitant about putting the photography type shots i try to do on my myspace and facebook just cuz i didnt want random people taking them if they wanted them, i never will now because i sure as hell dont want people OWNING my stuff. its rare i get a good pic lol

i dunno about posting pics in the future though now

i think everyone knows the risk of putting up material that it could get taken, but not to lose ownership to your own stuff. that really sucks and no one should have expected that

thats pretty retarded IMO. saying "people should expect this" is insane. theres a thing called copyright law, just because i put something on the net doesnt make it someone elses marketing property, and shouldnt be expected as such.

its liek a basic creative right.

and makin the rule work retroactively is the insane part.

Well there was the clause stating that they can/will change the TOS at any time. Those are written into basically everything nowadays so just be wary of it next time I guess. Expect anything/everything nowadays as the world has become quite stupid.

                  Retarded? no

How isnt it retarded to expect that facebook will own everything ive ever put on their server since 2004...starting now. Even if i delete it.

In the future? sure, can be expected.

Like said in that thread, its like the bank saying, oh btw, we own all your money thats in our bank now, we said we could change our TOS whenever, later. You shouldnt "expect" that.

everyone probably should read the terms and conditions of websites but honestly who does? i dont....this shows i probably should though but at the same time if i did and i saw that id probably be like theres millions of people on here what in the world could they change besides charging us money or something and i would cast it aside.

no matter what i still think its sketchy and unethical in a way

Even if you read it originally, they change it randomly without saying anything...and they make you accept it by default if you want to even see what it is changed to. When you log in you have "accepted" the new terms and conditions.

So unless you read em daily all the way through before you log in, youre screwed. To see that as soemthing to be expected is...retarded

Eh, I post my pics online knowing that someone can take them.

The fact that they give you no option to remove it before they enact this is stupid and bullshit. Business(HMC) and pleasure(facebook) never mix well it seems
