Pinzgauer, Unimogs, Volvo C303's, Rovers all are great vehicles However all are expensive to purchase, maintain and modify!

Toyota's are where it's at, affordable, inexpensively modified, tough and reliable! Parts can be easily sourced as well which is important imo!

I've been reading a lot of stuff on the JKs. I used to go with the "bring back the cherokee if you want a four door!" thing, but you know, the JK has a lot of stuff from the factory that people have been putting on XJ's for years... stouter axles, the removable hardtop for that Chero-'Manche look... some upgrading needs to be done to the steering linkage like always, but they seem to be a pretty solid base. I'd say go with the rubicon, upgrade the steering, lift is 2-3 inches, put the bigger tires on it, all the requisite safety gear and you're set.

I love my WK and i would love to lift it but id never want to wheel it. its too pretty and IFS.

been pretty happy with the jk 4 door, extra space is great, the trans is really rubbery and likes to try to stall. If you got an auto that wouldn't be a prob i guess. the traction control (its supposed to be like a limited slip) has been pretty good in the snow. I have the x with a tow package, it has 4.10s, been happy with the power it has... but compared to the 3.07s in my tj anything has power. Just thowing that out there..

the xterra seems to have a really high roof line which i would think would be a negative in an expo rig.
