  • Cash for Clunkers

Anyone hear about this program....looks like if you trade in your used vehicle (Many jeeps on this list), they will give you a $3,500 or $4,500 credit towards a new vehicle if the new vehicle gets more than 5 mpg better gas mileage than your currently vehicle. Score for anyone looking to get a newer Jeep and get rid of their old one. http://www.edmunds.com/cash-for-clun...-vehicles.html

would work out well if you can find a hella cheap car/jeep/ whatever on craigslist for like 100 bucks, and get a nice rebate on a newer car.

Pretty sure you need to have personally owned the car for 6 months or a year to get in on the deal.

Yup, you have to have owned an insured the vehicle for at least a year to be eligible for this program.

thats what i thought. but they screw you there. the vehical must be registered in your name for 12 months. also jeep dealers have an offer that gives you the 4500 for the clunker to a new car +an additional 4500 if the car you buy gets 5mpg's more than the one you tade in. that one you trade in has to get below 18mpg so your new car has to get 23 or better, which leaves only the jeep compas/patriot/liberty.

it sounds real good on the comercials but its all the fine print and catches that get you.
