  • The Majestic Theater, Bridgeport, CT

Well, I sure as fuck didn't know about it, but Nic did and the most random phone call of my life was simple the start of tonight. My father called me up, asked if I knew what the place was. Fuck no I didn't, but he told me about it, a theater made in Bridgeport's prime. Nic said he always wanted to break into the place, and this time, we would have Bridgeport Police Escort.

It was opened to the public in 1922, consists of 2 massive theaters that are separated by an 'outdoor lobby' with no roof. There is a connecting hotel that goes up 5 levels, where visitors and actors stayed during productions.

It was finally closed in the 50s, then reopened for renovations, then finally locked up in the 70s, when the place literally started to fall apart at the seams.

Here are some pics Nic got. The pictures do not do this justice, in the least bit. These theaters were massive, to say the least, with grand architecture and organs that went up two stories. Balconies and hundreds of seats, all untouched for the last 60 years.

This was the old sign that was on the front of the building when the place was open.

    Old school elevators.

This kind of scroll and artwork was on every wall of this theater.

One of the lower level private seating places.

Looks like an old speaker box.

Dressing Room. These rooms had NO light. We had to use the lights on the end of the Taser pistols to see around the place.

    One of the Curtains.

    One of the Organs.

I know it is hard to see, but this mural was easily 40 feet wide.

OLD projectors. There were 3 of them, all had their own cooling system.

    snack bar.

    Seats.

There is a story behind this one, which happened to one of the paranormal people that explored this place a while back. Found out that in this hotel, all the sick children had to go into this one room, and well, one of them died there. Well, as the story goes, there was an encounter with that little girl, she walked up to one of the paranormal people searching the place, said 'Hi' then walked away. Pant shitting commence.

Cool shit. Was a fun night of exploring a dilapidated old building in the good ol run down downtown Bridgeport.

    the rest of the pics.

My father's cousin is a Bridgeport Cop, and my father has been hounding him for a year or so to get access to this place. So, tonight was finally the night that my cousin was out with his patrol buddy and they happen to have keys for the place. They gave us the grand tour.

cool deal i love checking out old places like that. Ive been into a couple old textile mills and factories around here. Im trying really really hard to get into the old state hospital in Norwich CT. There wont be many chances for me to go on, pretty sure its getting knocked down next summer. Im on a urban exploring forum where they go there quite often. Its patrolled pretty hard, and thats def not something I want to get arrested for, espeically with my job and all.

Norwich state hospital is one of them , huge hospital on a huge property, 30+ buildings to explore, all connected by underground tunnels and such. Close in 96 but was built in the early 1900s. Just got bought out by the town of preston and they are probably gonna be knocking it down next summer.

they used to run loops around the place every 15 min or so. the kid i went with went back later and stole a morgue door and sold it so some guy on the internet. got a pretty hefty sum for it. my buddy eventually got caught and if he gets caught on premises again he gets in actual trouble. this place is subject to so many rumors. i've heard they never go in the tunnels. why would they really, its filled with asbestos. i've heard about homeless people living inside there. i've also seen pictures of people going there in broad daylight. i've only gone there at 12am or later. one time i was there at 5am and the sun was coming back up after it just rained. walked on foot amidst all the buildings with rain making erie noises inside was quiet unsettling.

if you're thinking about going i'd go with someone whos been before. don't go with a huge group or if you do make sure everyone is quick on their feet. the way my friend got caught was they got some knucklehead in his party and used him as bait for the rest of the group.
