Another flatfender

If you saw my ad in the wanted section, maybe you are wondering about the "jeep I am getting"

Looks like I am getting another flatfender, 1946 CJ2a.

Saw it on craigslist a couple months ago and had no way to get it. It went back on last week and I emailed the guy and looks like I am getting it this time. Good restoration project, it is very complete and not too hammered. Been sitting about 10 years supposedly, but that is how long the one sat that I have been driving the past 2 summers.

Next summer I want to build a stockish flattie with the soft top, Chevy V6, CJ7 pedals and column, power steering and power brakes, kind of like in my big jeep. They are really fun drivers, but the stock 60hp 4 cylinder engine and 5.38 gears limits you to non highway travel 55mph maybe 60 top speed, and the lack of power steering is a little rough on the shoulders if you drive all day. Original is cool, but I like driving them more.

Thanks, it is a terrible obsession, but at least I am keeping these things from getting scrapped!

Sounds cool, better suited to someone who doesn't want a huge project. One of my favorite things is firing up an engine that hasn't ran in a decade
