i've seen the AF-S's 55-200 go for around 120 and less with the VR.. what other lens would you need??
so now youre $5-600 deep on a cam that weighs 8lbs and is 8" long. my XT+28-105 is a torture to lug around "just to have to take pics" and its ~6" long and the lens is pretty light.

theres a reason i get 500 pics on a wheeling run and adam gets 70...convenience/ease of use is something to be spoken for.....a dslr will take a better pic if you know what youre doing..but u pay a price as far as portability and so on with that

yup. when will is out getting pics, half the time im like "ugh i dont feel like pulling this out of the case, getting out, metering light for a couple shots, then finally taking 1 or 2 pics. by then everyone else is gone. the great part is, i come out with fantastic shots, but i pay for it.
i've shot 3 different cams in the canon s series, a nikon D40, D40x, D50, D70, canon 20D, 40D, rebel XTi, my rebel XT and my fuji hybrid (like the s series) that i had before the canon, and all with a bunch of different lenses

what have you shot to recommend a cam?
every camera at best buy. im semi pro. if you want to get into a pissing match we can.
looks like the cannon sx10 is is the way i might go. the only thing thats not making it 100%
Cons: 1) VERY slow sequential shooting capability (1.4 fps vs. 2.5 fps industry standard) - you will likely miss any semi fast action (kids games, sports etc.)
2) Battery consumption is relatively high (this is due to mechanical optical zoom and use of flash) - rechargeable AA's are the only way to cut down the cost and not having to buy/carry fresh battery. A set of four fresh AA’s will last ~ 100 pix, using flash and zoom.
