In the business world perfection is not realistic.
20% of your time, you can produce 80% of the work. That last 20% to get perfection asked for 80% of your time. This is known as the Pareto principle.
Our warehouse is not 100% automated, so they strive to ship 95% of their open orders on a given day. That last 5% would kill us to track down each little piece and send it. That 5% will be bundled into the next days shipments.
When it comes to a personal project, I do my best based on the situation. Working on a customer car, they need it to function as intended. I am building a bar in my spare time. I am not a professional wood worker, so perfection can't be had. But I like the way it looks. So I am happy.Molten Motorsports - #4343/4443

i'm a perfectionist to a fault, especially at work, but my lack of patience is my biggest enemy. i agree with everyone though, sometimes you just have to walk away and cool off.

This thread explains my night.....
There are a lot of things that I have the that'll do mentality with.... (Classes, organization, yada yada ) but when it comes to personal things that I'm halfway decent with I try my hardest for perfection.
Tonight, I was finish welding my rockers and could not keep a strait weld.... It Turned out like shit and had to walk away. (Lots of rated R language was screamed in the process). I should have walked away right when I started and found myself in that "that'll do" mindset.
Now I have to deal with ugly welds for everyone to see. :/Originally posted by Ktmracer419some people choose video games
