good point, but i still would say it is immature to look deeply to someone's past on a social network and take that stuff to heart. i agree more with what he said before about immaturity. maybe people did make mistakes in their pasts but if you're gonna be married don't you need to have a much higher level of trust and maturity between the two of you to not let such petty things get in the way of your relationship?

just my $.02 due to the fact that facebook crises piss me off lol

well it's one thing to just get jealous over a persons past [IMO thats not a reason to get divorced] but, if your husband/wife starts talking to an ex, or someone new, or whatever the case, through fb, twitter, whatever it is...then there's a case. facebook definitely opens the gates big time for letting people meet new people by not leaving the house. a simple facebook conversation could turn into a lot more. dont forget about people who have multiple accounts so they can fool around without being caught. i think thats probably more of the reason why people blame FB for their divorce.

definitely agree with that statement. it is a hell of a lot easier to find yourself snooping around since it's so easy. i would be resentful if my girlfriend was talking to her ex on facebook at any more than a highly occasional interval.

How about the fact that you can't even go out with friends without, at least or a bit, stopping conversation to mindlessly check/update facebook?
Sometimes I find myself thinking in Facebook statuses instead of real English.

          I'm going with bad.

I'm also going with a guy who has no phone, no cell, but does have Internet and uses Facebook is bullshit to at least some degree.
Is it egg nog season yet?

it's sad and true. we can't just go out with friends/family and enjoy the time we're spending with them. we constantly have to be checking facebook to see what everyone else is doing in fear of missing something. in fact people are now requesting phones get left behind for weddings. it's not a bad idea. people with cell phones get in the way of the hired photographers/videographers, and they are too insisted on checking in/uploading photos/#omgwedding to actually enjoy the time

I just deleted mine for a few reasons:
              1) The new privacy settings had loopholes where people you didn't want to talk to could find ways to contact you....which was annoying when co-worker's ex's would hound you asking questions about that person.
              2) I never really used it for anything important besides my weather page, which is still up and running after doing some research....so I do use fb only for that since a lot of fans didn't use twitter, blogspot....etc.
              3) To make my marriage better. It worried me that on our days off, my wife and I would spend hours on Fb doing nothing but scrolling through the news feed and then complain we don't do anything on our days off together. 3 days off, and things have gotten much better.

              I have a phone....It should be used

Heres a common misconception I find.

Facebook is not a replacement for the telephone, just like a telephone is a not a replacement for Facebook. They both offer vastly different things IMO.

Anytime I see people say "I dont need Facebook, if someone wants me they will use a phone" I x1000.

Probably 3/4 of the things I do/interact with on Facebook are not something a phone is useful or practical for.

In my opinion, Facebook has formed an insanely powerful communication tool, which brings a lot of good. However with the good, always comes the bad...in a lot of ways it accentuates human shallowness, and magnifies ignorance and self absorption...although it should be noted despite facebook's existence, those people would likely still be ignorant/self absorbed, however may not have had as big of a stage for it.

I am not sure whether Facebook brings more good than bad, or the other way around. But it certainly isnt all bad

                        Ding ding ding.

Facebook keeps me connected with you guys, aside from the forum. I'm sorry, but I'm not picking up the phone to call you every week to see how things are going... If I need something answered I'll call. If not, text or FB message gets me an answer within the day. Unless you're will, that kid never texts back no time

I understand the misconception Will....trust me. For advertising and such, it's wonderful. Who knows, I may make a personal page again in the future, but for now I really don't need it.

As a divorce attorney, I see a lot of clients come in with printouts of Facebook wall posts or messages and all of the m ak the same question - how can we use this against him/her (usually her)? In my experience, it looks like judges pretty much just tune out when they hear the word Facebook unless it's something horrible, so I don't even bother with it when presenting a case. It is pretty funny/sad to see what some people will say when they're not face-to-face with another person.

agreed, and as much as it's an extremely powerful tool for staying in touch and I can think of a ton of people i'd probably never see again if it weren't for facebook... i'm going with it being a majority bad. not only is it shameless self promotion for a lot of people but it ruins friendships and relationships far too often. i hate having to live worried about who's going to be mad if i post this, that, or the other thing because they weren't invited or in the picture with us. sometimes it seems like it's just not worth it.
