  • Jeeps Fucked - I'm Stuck - Berlin, NY

    Anyone near berlin new york?

Oil seal blew on my passenger side axle shaft. Fluid everywhere and the seal is managled.

Anyone near with a spare D44 axle shaft? Any ideas?

Pull the shaft, wrap it with a rag, fill and check every 30 or 50 miles or something?

Like totally remove the oil seal? The bearing has like 1/2" of play in it.

I have rtv. Should I rtv it?

I also think the bearing retainer slid out like 1/4"

Don't think I can hammer it back.

            So basically I'm fucked? Haha. I can't afford a $600 tow.

Sadly it will be somewhere between 375 and 425 if you pay cash and this time of night they won't take credit usually. If u can't get it figured out by about ten am post up here ill see if I got something out that way.

Bearing is hosed, should have assumed that.

If I weren't heading out of town tomorrow, I would swing up and grab you with a trailer.

I appreciate the offer. I just don't want to leave my jeep here as its a sketchy town. It would be on blocks and torn apart by the time I got back tomorrow.

I need to either find another shaft or a shop capable of helping me or tow it home

Pull the shaft and front driveshaft. Stuff shop rags or shitty sleeve from hoodie in there..duct tape ove what you can and drive it. Front theoretically shouldnt spin at that point

Its the rear axle not the front.

Anyone got a trailer and willing to tow? Can't pay $600 though.
