Starbucks Chief Executive Officer Howard Schultz wrote an open letter to fellow Americans on Tuesday with “a respectful request” that customers no longer bring firearms into its stores or outdoor seating areas.
In the letter, posted to the coffee company’s blog, Schultz noted that while Starbucks has respected open carry laws in states that allow residents to openly carry firearms in public, the debate over such rules has become “increasingly uncivil and, in some cases, even threatening.” Pro- and anti-gun activists have held events in Starbucks stores and made it a place to hold arguments, which Schultz says is inappropriate.mrs. heavymetal from jeepforum

I don't know what some of these people expected. They blatantly said they were indifferent as long as people behaved themselves and then the pro-gun and anti- gun people made it out to be a place for protest and nut swinging. The militant and the attention whores turned the company's business press release into a war against the anti-gunners. The gun community fucked this one up. Rather than just saying "Okay, here is a place that supports us" and let it be, thousands of people had to go there with shotguns and rifles and open carry in the stores and they wonder why Starbucks says they would appreciate it if we didn't bring guns into the store. The entire gun community went from loving Starbucks right back to hating it.
Sometimes the gun community is a bigger bunch of fucking sheep than the anti-gunners. I rarely ever go there, didn't go there when they released their 'indifferent' business press release and I will continue to rarely go there.sigpic

ya i can't blame them on requesting people not open carry in their stores. starbucks followed the local laws that allowed guns only to say OUT of the gun debate and not taking a side so to speak.
i hope the gun community next year or when ever the national open carry day thing they celebrate is still supports starbucks. instead of bringing in rifles and what not just wear a gun shirt and go buy coffee. hell that's what i'd do.
