Despite the fact that the brand is being ruined, Jeep beat out 196 other brand names as the most "patriotic" brand in America. It topped Coca-Cola, Hershey's, Levi's, and Walt Disney. It scored 98 out of 100 in meeting customer emotional engagement expectations.

It's because no matter what jeep comes out with, 99% of America assumes its as rugged as a wrangler just because its a jeep. Jeep has always been a symbol of America, ruggedness, and the outdoors. So, even the people that drive compasses and patriots think that's what they get. The people who actually know something about them know they are shit.

I really could care less what else jeep produced as long as they kept the wrangler and another line (say cherokee) actually ruggedly oriented. I hate the way the grand cherokee has been developed and the wranglers too for that matter.

Why can't you just say they suck? Mostly the patriot and compass.... Just seriously think about it. A Jeep...based on a dodge caliber....... And you like it.

this isnt about painfully obvious statistics...of course the majority doesnt off road.

the idea is that jeep has produced niche brand vehicles for a long time, and their entire image is built on niche vehicles. for jeep to build minivan and small crossover type cars is a bit of a bummer to the jeep brand and image, and is solely a money making dilution of the brand, which is a bummer to enthusiasts.

you can admit youre an enthusiast, right? this forum is full of core enthusiasts, not 50 year old women, i know youre old, but christ

you arent wowing any of us with generic knowledge of car sales

Jeep should only be making 3 vehicles right now: the Wrangler, the Grand Cherokee and a Gladiator style pickup truck. The Wrangler will always be the iconic Jeep vehicle by which all others are judged by. The Grand Cherokee is the linear progression of the Grand Wagoneer and the Cherokee Chiefs of decades ago, a stylish SUV with great cargo capacity mixed with decent offroad ability. The Gladiator would be the mix between great offroad capability and utilitarian truck to compete against the 1/4-1/2 ton pickup trucks in its class. Those are the niches Jeep should fill and they should base their entire company on those.

For fuck's sake, Ford released the Raptor and I've seen more pounding pavement on the mean streets of Connecticut than I have in Johnson Valley. Yeah, offroad capable, yet if it's a good truck, people are still going to buy it. When you buy an Italian made crossover, you aren't buying a Jeep, you're buying a corporate cop-out because they don't understand the principles Jeep was founded on. What's the point of Jeep making something like that? Why make something that everyone else is fucking making? At least with something like a Gladiator they can produce a smaller pickup at a good price with the offroad capability of an XJ or something and I'm sure it would sell. Why buy a Johnny-come-lately Jeep crossover when you can buy a Honda or Toyota crossover? Why the fuck would I want a car that looks like a Buick? We're already getting the abortion child called the new Cherokee, doesn't that fit the bullshit requirements that they want rather than making more useless vehicles under the Jeep brand?

                          Fixed.

Its all about sales, especially if their plans to kill Dodge are true. Jeep needs to be their volume brand in the U.S.

Not that I agree with that though.

If you want an old jeep to smash around the woods, you may buy one out of somebodies yard or barn. There are plenty of shitty, rugged 4x4's out there waiting to be bought.

If you wanf something to haul the kids and the dog and a hutch and maybe 12 cases of pickled eggs that doesn't break down or smell like raccoon feces get the new poop Jeep.

Its just the facts of business. Thats why people buy "vintage" vehicles, because they have that niche appeal.

Tell me again how a Buick Encore inspired Jeep is sweet due to the facts of business again?
