I saw that coming as soon as I read there was a truck apart in the bay.
The bottom line is, dont ever do work for a customer who didnt authorize the work.
The customer in this case being the owner. Doesnt matter if your father said you would get paid, its not up to him.

Ya Dan your right. The job pays book time at 5 hours I have done them in three. I told them I would have to reset the trim codes and calibrate them with my laptop so six hours. Well see what happens

I refuse to work straight time. It never works unless your at the dealer.
My boss tried that once I worked for a two weeks without making any hours. Always something wrong parts bad parts and other issues cannot finish the job. Moving cars around helping other people fixing there mistakes, etc goes on and on.

I said this isn't going to work and went back to hourly.
Plus it is a pain to track.

I work the same speed no matter what, so normally he makes out.

I would suggest going to hourly or finding another shop.

I work at another shop hourly, at night. I went in today and finished the job. Took me 2.5 hours total for the injectors. So total I spent 5.5 hours there and quoted 6. And the owner said today that he would pay me the total nine hours. And then tried to offer me a full time position at my old pay grade lol. I laughed and said no way in hell. My new job has opened me up to new things that actually show my skill level, and has boosted my confidence ten fold.
