I personally think if you're upgrading with a budget in mind, it isn't needed. I never bothered and even with a sub I never regretted it.

i'm curious why crutchfield has them as two different sizes front/back when onlinecarstereo has them both as 6.5s.

hit me up if you want a hand. You dont NEED external tweeters or an amp for the speakers. I do feel your on the right path with the first combo. I used to install those exact sets of polks. Always loved them, give you clean highs and mids, whilst still giving you that little bit of rumbling lows to balence everything out

Mid year changes? My experience with 2.5 has always been 6.5 all around

Honestly, the only real issue I have with the radio you posted up, is in the rare chance (hopefully not anytime soon) you lose your Ipod/Iphone.. Youd be left with no music whatsoever, and I dont know about you, but I'm pretty sure with my phone locked up in the headunit, I would without a doubt, on a CONSISTANT basis, get out of my car, lock it, get at least 50 to 100 feet away, realize my phone is still in the dash, or already be somewhere where I couldnt get it to for a few hours, and do the move everybody knows well

ugh. this thread just made me make an impulse buy on a cheapo sub system. $140 bucks down the drain. but got a rockford fosgate prime2 10" sub, boss amp, box to fit my truck and a wiring kit for that much. i'll report back when it blows up

its all good, im used to it. i have an ipod touch and in heavy my headunit is an ipod only unit, and in the subaru right now is the tape deck with a cassette adapter, so my only option has always been ipod. havent had a cd player in the jeep in a while
