I've got a buddy who's a dealer for JBL. I run a full JBL GT series conversion in my jeep. I bet we could get you a couple sets of them for a couple hundred. Leaving some cash for the head unit.

with rock, you want the highs and crispness. Mine is set up with two kicker slim 12's. I like good, tight bass, subs where you can hear every little double pedal hit on the base drum.

Really, if you get something "new" from any of the companies mentioned above, you'll have a night and day difference.

well, sir... as far as im concerned, JBL will the competition.

I also think your install should be Def don't even think about paying any for the install.

is all about tight sound and quality. Mostly a lot of highs and mids. The music is more about . You might not even need to spend money on a That way you can spend the extra money on a head unit that has a built in amp and plenty of quality.

hahaha.... in all honesty, JBL, Pioneer, Sony... you can't miss. Just buy something better than middle of the road. The GTO series that I have are top of the JBL line, which is why they are so insane. The whole system also cost my sponsor shop about $2,000.....

if your use to working on a budget you can get great sound out of a setup that cost less than 300 bucks, minus the head unit, which is entirely your choice

as hippie metal knows don't buy for power by for quality, a nice set of Boston acoustics or mid grade Polk audio's can rock your world if everything is setup right

the only thing i would recommend for rock is

1 you must have separate tweeters, mount them up on the dash or in your mirror kicker panels ( im not sure what kinda of room you have on the Subaru)

and 2 don't power off a head unit, although its easier to buy a better head unit than it is to wire in a second amplifier, you will ALWAYS get better sound with an external amp, and it will almost alway cost less!

know that RMS is the amount of power that will be sent to a speaker continuously. Peak is the amount sent (or that can be sent) in short bursts...

                RMS is important!

That will do great for you. Not a fan of the radio though. Not that its a low quailty unit or anything like that. I personally just go for the cleaner faced radios. To me its just a lot going on in a small place, but to each their own. Youll be extremely happy with that

Any reason you're looking for marine grade speakers? Unless things have changed I remember them being more expensive

no sir, but those particular ones currently have a deal where the 2nd set of polk speakers are 50% off with the purchse

best i can tell the next step down doesnt save me as much as that would

whats the difference between those ones i linked before and these
                          http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DB52...21.html?tp=105

I realize this one doesnt have the tweeters, but are they really worth getting THAT much?

not sure what the other thing is with the tweeters in the original one

                            The block?

Usually filters all but the highs out so the tweeter doesn't blow.

Edit: In the case of the ones you linked earlier it's a crossover box that splits the highs/mids/lows and sends them to the correct speakers.

an amp for just speakers isn't necessary though you could if you wanted. the headunit is internally amped iirc. quality headunit helps with quality sound
