people in NJ started lining up at 5 pm yesterday and didnt get until late this morning

60% is out in NJ, about 70% on LI. rumors are they opened the hudson river today and are bringing gas in.

The other problem is that they gave me my internet back for a few hours then quickly took it away from me, same with cable. I literally have no idea what the world is like outside of Easton, Fairfield, and Trumbull. All I know is that it's bad and Jersey is the worst, but alas, what would I know. I've been cut off!

Though hearing about people pulling guns on each other over gas kind of makes me want to give my internet back...I guess ignorance truly is bliss. Humanity crumbles as soon as a group of people are inconvenienced.

jersey, staten island, south shore LI, and brooklyn are all just unreal. i know Steve's area got completely washed out. a lot of people who work for my company live in that area. sand in the streets and in homes, cars washed miles away or buried in sand and trash, and families with literally nowhere to go.

thankfully they cancelled the NYC marathon. the theory behind powering through it to show how strong we are may have been true with 9/11, but right now when resources are in such short supply it would have been a disgrace not to redirect them to helping relief efforts.

I'm looking at all the pictures of New Jersey shorelines right now, I can't believe the devastation...so close here. I couldn't believe the pictures that Will took so I had to see the shoreline of Fairfield myself...I can't even imagine seeing the destruction and the washed out beach communities elsewhere.

If anyone is still without power, don't hesitate to call me if you need a shower or anything. I know it's a little late to be offering this, I should have offered when I had internet back at the beginning of the week, but the offer is out there for anyone without it still.

he does, and he also has a generator and the RV, but its just getting insane. the gas lines are still long, and he hasnt seen any power company trucks near his house. they just cleared a large tree yesterday & he said there's still a ton more. last night our neighborhood dropped around 100 houses & i had hope they were in the area and doing work...when i woke up this morning the number had gone up around 250, so they knocked out power for more homes

did they give you an estimate? LIPA had a pretty good map going with ETAs and crew locations. they changed it a few days ago to the most pointless map i've ever seen. such a shame.

They said the 11th. No power, heat or water. It was 40 degrees in my room when i was sleeping

We are being told at work not until Thanksgiving to get power back. A sub station sustained heavy damage.

they just released a statement on LI today telling people they are "Trying" to get it back by thanksgiving

they are almost implementing an odd-even gas schedule
