We started the trail at 600pm and were back to the jeep at the trailhead by 700pm. Around 1 hour to complete the 2 miles round trip.

The temperature was 45* when we got back to the jeep.

Some bison crossing the Yellowstone River in Hayden Valley.

Apparently 2,000 pound bison can swim.

                  • I left Canyon Village, WY around 100pm on September 7th with the goal of summiting Avalanche Peak.

Avalanche Peak (elevation 10,566 feet) is the 14th highest peak in Yellowstone National Park.

The Avalanche Peak trailhead (elevation 8,465) is around 34 miles southeast of Canyon Village where I live on the East Entrance Road. Left around 200pm.

                    Eleanor Lake near the trailhead.

.25 of a mile into the trail. View of Top Notch Peak.

                              • Messing around with timed shots.

Gary, Tenna, and I on Avalanche Peak.

A couple mesa like formations to the north that reminded me of Utah.

Hoyt Peak with some snow in the shadows and the Absaroka Range.

False summit and Yellowstone Lake to the south from the summit.
