Depends mostly on what's involved for prep, and body work. Typically for me to prep and paint single stage it can be done for 6-700$
Including materials. Base clear is significantly more. Depending on the color sometimes you only want base clear.
Basic colors are fine single stage.
I had plans of setting up my garage to paint in but haven't got there yet. I've done partials but no full jobs yet.

if your cheap like me you buy lacquer base paints that cant be sprayed anymore by local body shops , and use jamming clear on the whole body.... about 100 bucks in paint, thinner, cleaners and clear.. haha

ive sprayed almost entirely lacquer based paints though, and its a joy to spray enamel compared to it.

They dont use laquer any more for a reason. You can buff it to an unbelievable shine, but its never really dry. It shrinks and expands, and after a while it ends up cracking and looking like shit. Your body work better be perfect too because it just sinks in imperfections.

I wish my garage was setup I would do it for materials. I really need a place to paint. Next garage will have a bay for paint.

you know, now that I think about it though my high school auto body teacher has the old school spray booth at his house. His prices should be good and he is a fantastic painter. I could check into if if youd like. Hes in Durham
