I do not believe there is any paper work needed to transfer a long gun in CT, at least that what Ive always done, with my dads guns that became mine.

x2 on pics, i would guess if the gun is that old that there's no registration paperwork on it anymore, well at least not traceable

You seem to forget that guns don't need to be registered anywhere. There is no paperwork involved with transferring a rifle to a direct relative, in fact, even if the kid was over 18, anyone could give said person a rifle without any paper work as long as they weren't felons. The gun could be brand new, only time you have to do paper work is when buying from an FFL.

                      no paperwork on long guns
pistols you don't need to transfer the gun to carry it just to get if off the other person's name.

There is no gun registration lets keep it that way.

Just cannot sell a gun to a person that is not legally allowed to own one i.e. felon. That is considered a straw purchase very bad.
