I get where you're coming from regarding that, and that's one of the problems with all the different gun control laws, they're often vague and quite different from place to place. A more codified version, applied to bigger regional areas, would make it easier for everyone living there to comply with the laws.

I'm a supporter of the idea that everyone, who is legally competent to own a firearm, should be able to do so. But at the same time, its something that needs regulation.

Couldn't agree more. A single, nationwide pistol permit would not be a terrible idea. You apply for it like you do with any other state except for like four, and you can legally travel anywhere in the country you want with your handgun. You can already do it with rifles (as long as you don't go to MA or CA) so why not make a nation wide carry and purchase permit?

Say i live in CT, and i'm going hunting in maine.

I have my rifles and pistol all in a locked case in the trunk of my car with the rest of my camping/hunting stuff. All firearms are legal in CT and i have my permits for everything yada yada.

If i get pulled over in MA for speeding lets say, and the state trooper asks about firearms i say yup i'm going hunting in maine and describe what i just did regarding their location and legality.

So would i then be arrested? And forced to spend a year in jail minimum? Even though i have done nothing out of the realm of conventional thought.

If you have a pistol and non-resident MA pistol permit, you'll be in cuffs before you know it. As for the rifle, the gun has to be locked in a case, in your trunk and you're better off buying your ammo in Maine when you get there.

Want to know the best way to get your guns from one pace to another? UPS. Find somewhere you can ship them to and ship them and have them arrive when you arrive, safest way and you don't have to worry about traveling with them.

Would definitely cut down on enforcement/regulation costs and confusion over legality
