  • Question for people who drive lifted XJs

I have driven and still drive my lifted cherokee. When I would see other lifted XJs, id give em a wave, but just XJs. Never did I wave to dudes driving stock wranglers or lifted wranglers.

Now I know wrangler owners have the whole jeep wave thing, and now that I own a wrangler I wave at all kinds of wranglers.

What I dont understand is why a lifted/modified XJ guy is waving at me when im driving my wrangler? Do you all do this? Wave to stock wranglers in your lifted XJ? I just dont get it I guess.

people who wave generally know what owning a jeep is about. i wave if waved at, otherwise i dont wave unless a sweet rig pulls up next to me or one that stands out past the typical wrangler on 32s used as a "car"

I don't wave anymore. If I see a highly modified jeep and they are behind me I cut the wheel back and forth quick and make the jeep do the waving for me and i get a wave out of that usually.

I do not wave to stockers or mildly lifted rigs because they are so damn common out here.

i used to wave alot, more often when the other jeep was mod'ed, i could tell the driver was grillin' my jeep, or the driver was a hottie

Note: reason #3 is why Alex Crosby always gets a wave
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

It's a Jeep thing, clearly you forgot all about it.

I just wait for the other driver to initiate the wave so i don't look like an assclown. It is funny when i see the new kids driving around in there jeeps with black rims/28 inch tires, or a sticker that wave thinking there jeep is "bad ass"

I used to get a lot of waves in jersey. Not so much back in ct. I usually only intiated the wave if I saw the guy looking

It's about a common bond, an appreciation for wheeling and modifying your Jeep to your liking...it's like if I see somebody wearing a 49ers jersey, also being a fan of the 49ers I feel as though we immediately have something in common.

I'll wave to other lifted Cherokees and wave back at anyone who waves at me, whatever they are driving. They felt the need to wave which means they must either know me or like my jeep.

If it's a modded jeep I wave, plain and simple.

Don't wave, unless I know the person.

The thing I miss most about owning a lifted jeep is getting the wave. Now I just glare at other lifted jeeps and give the driver bedroom eyes until he or she notices. It's at this point I give the good ol' thumbs up!

When i say jeep throughout this post,
I'm referring to XJs because wranglers make me want to give people the minestrone diP.

x2. If I waved at every soccer mom driving a Jeep in CT, my arm would fall off. Half the people driving jeeps around here (including some lifted ones) don't even know what they are driving.

If waved at though, I will wave back. I've gotten waves from old guys in stock XJs during a blizzard. No problem with that.

I also get waves when I have the x-mas lights on my jeep. Last year people pointed, flashed their lights, and beeped the horn since I had a light up reindeer on my roof rack.
