this also in from ADS:
Here is a Statement from the manufacturer of the shocks. They wanted to release this to help clear up some of the confusion.
First of all we want to thank the Priate4x4 members for their support. I want to extend a special thanks to Camo for being accessible, knowledgeable and understanding during this transition. ADS Precision Machining has been in business as a machine shop for over 23 years. We have been making shocks for about 15 years. Our shock program started because the owner grew up an offroad fan and racer. Originally our shock program (if you can call it that) was geared towards desert racing. We made a few shocks here and there for friends of the company. People started asking about them at races and at the dunes. Before we knew it we had hundreds of shocks out there.
Over the years we’ve had a number of companies approach us about carrying our shock line and have had some successes and failures along way. Our core competency is precision machining. We take pride in what we do and we are damn good at it. What we are not, is a marketing company. We’re not masters of the interwebs or globetrotting salesmen. We’re craftsmen and we stick to what we do well. Therefore, if we want to continue our offroad passion, we need companies like Ballistic and Truxxx to do the marketing work for us.
A few years ago when Ballistic approached us about carrying our shock line with their name on it, we carefully reviewed the company. At that time they were just getting started and had some innovative, fundamentally sound ideas. They were dedicated to the sport and most importantly the customers. Well time changes all things. Sometimes it’s not always for the better. Somewhere along the line you guys took a back seat to other endeavors. The end result was completed shocks you guys had paid good money for sitting on our shelves for months waiting for Ballistic to show up with the money to pick them up. This is unacceptable.
We began to understand that if we were going to continue making shocks, we had to find additional distributors. We had worked with the owner of Truxxx, Rick Griffith before under a different company name. He approached us at SEMA last year and after a few beers in the parking lot of the Sahara, we started to realize that he was on to something. This time around the focus would be on the customer. Not just by shipping parts on time & answering the phone (all very important things), but about being at the races. Offering technical advice on site. Listening to good ideas even if they were not our ideas. Developing new innovative products and using our contacts and manufacturing prowess to make things happen that other companies couldn’t or wouldn’t do. This approach was right up our alley.
We brought Truxxx on as a distributor and it started to pay off. We hit the ground running with new products right away. We began by developing OEM suspension applications. As the process went along we started seeing untapped opportunities in the offroad market. We brought the air bypass to the market and ran them at KOH 2011 to rave reviews. Out of respect for Ballistic, we asked Truxxx to refrain from directly marketing against them in this forum. Truxxx responded by increasing their visibility at races, doing on site tuning and developing their online presence in other ways. It came to the point that Truxxx had done enough for us to decide to let them introduce themselves on pirate4x4.com.
Ballistic contacted us a couple days later and threatened to stop distributing our shocks if we did not make Truxxx remove their post and stop advertising on pirate. We let them know if they felt they couldn’t compete with another company in an open forum then they must do what they felt best. They responded by removing the shock line from their website and deleting the “Shockingly Good News About Shocks” thread from their forum. We took this gesture to mean that they had in fact stopped selling our products. As a result we endorsed Truxxx as our shock distributor and that’s where we stand today.
The bottom line is Truxxx is our shock distributor. Ballistic is no longer carrying our line. If you have technical questions regarding shocks you have already received, please contact Truxxx. They are more than willing to provide any assistance you may need. If you have open shock orders with Ballistic that you have paid for already, and have not received them, chances are they have not placed the order with us. Their payment terms with us are the same as your payment terms with them. Payment is required on order. I cannot intelligently speak to the business practices of their company so I do not know how long it will take for you to receive your product. I can tell you that for the most part, shocks are completed within 24-48 hours upon receipt of an order. Occasionally orders fly in faster than we can restock some items. In these instances, our distributors are notified immediately of the expected delay so they can relay it to you.
I hope this clears up all of the confusion regard the relationship between the actual shock manufacturer (ADS Precision Machining), Ballistic Fabrication & Truxxx Offroad.
Sincerely,
The ADS Precision Machining Management Team

My last couple orders from Ballistic were shipped next day, complete orders. I was impressed. I thought they were finally getting better, I am a little disappointed to hear this.1950 Willys Trail Rig
