heres a picture of some rust on my ds rocker and I have some in the back on the floors round the wheel wells.
My question is what do you think I should do?
as it is it's getting rusty
slight rear main seal/oilpan gasket leak
just getting tired of dealing with it and have been thinking of starting with a newer cleaner one!

keep it put box sliders in the rear main seal is not that bad to do and if you do a rear main your gonna do a pan gasket, so thats that and patch the rest of the rust

i agree with what tizzy said, honestly finding another better xj is like finding the prettiest turd. even the newest ones are 10 years old and will have issues. fix up yours a little and it'll be lookin good

Definitely fix the one you have up. If you buy a new one that is "perfect" and "no problems" it is GOING to have problems and going to be quite a pretty penny. Plus you know what the problems are on this one. Good luck finding all the problems on a new one without getting more frustrated and bored than you are with your current one. Also if the previous owner rigged something you could sink $5000 into a "perfect" XJ only to have some shotty wiring done behind the dash and set your entire rig and contents on fire 15 miles into a trail. I say stick to what you know.

my biggest problem is having this as a daily driver and having to drive it in this in the winter with the F'in liquid salt!

I would just do replacement rockers Tom...you keep that thing soo clean, just patch them up and do the seal! Your XJ if you kept it clean would prob be one of the most unmolested Jeeps around. I would find a second one to beat on, or for the winter, and keep this one as clean as possible.

it's hard to keep up on this thing especially when I go back to work but if I didn't have to drive it in the bad weather I suppose it'd be much easier!
