  • Who goes backpacking?

Just wondering who on the forum here goes hiking or backpacking. Would like to get a group of people to go for even a night sometime soon...maybe 10-15 miles or something.

I have always loved to hike. Unfortunately... I am terribly out of shape, and 10-15 miles in one day moving at your usual pace will probably take the best of me.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

for those who were boyscouts i have been to philmont twice once as part of the crew (trek 29) and the other as a crew leader (trek 32)

for non boyscouts philmont is one of the 3 highest adventure places you can go as a boyscout as for trek numbers the high the number the harder it is up to trek 35

this is a picture we took at 12000 feet its me and a jeep hub cap

and may i suggest bear mountain its a moderate hike but every one can do it

I went to philmont this past summer. did trek 22 and loved it. I have been on the other two high adventure trips as well.

To the OP, i would be interested in backpacking, but i will be in college unfortunately.

Me and a few friends like to hike mountains and snowboard (or ski) back down. We have down Mt washington, Mt greylock, Mt cardigan, we hiked mt marcy in the summer i wasnt there for the winter hike. I would like to hike mt washington in the summer. Its only cold when you stop moving. We have camped in single digit temps, sucks to wake up and get out of the bag. I like hiking havent really done much lately though
