  • Ratrod Buggy

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=945420

I love the look of this buggy.
I'm trying to convince my friend josh to build one.
    What are your guys opinions?

Nothing to race just something to drive on the road and wheel in and o ya be cool.

I'm thinking about stripping a S10 4.3, T5 or 700r4 whatever T-case hope for the 242 but probably be the 231. or whatever chevy's version are called.

Then ford 8.8 rear and XJ 30 front.
Or do whatever it is a Ratrod.

What do you guys think it could be built cheap?

Anyone one want to donate some parts?
Anyone have an old s10 they want to get rid of? I figure I would just register it as a S10 no inspections no emissions got to love CT.

Think he is going more after Ratrod but it could be used offroad.
Josh is huge int Ratrod and wanted to build a Ratrod why not build one that can go offroad.
I'm not saying anything great wheeler but fun and for the trails around here you don't need much anyways. I'm sure it will hang with any mild built jeep.
I'm not a fan of the IFS. I would go solid.

Put some better tires on it and I'd definitely rock it around the Desert.

The roofline is a little strange though, too High for a RatRod.

                Pretty unique rig.

Although I really like the open top rig, I have seen some 40's Chevy and International trucks for really cheap that would make cool rat rod truggys. Definately worth consideration.

I had an 89 S10, it had a TBI 4.3, 700R4, NP231C (a little beefier than the ones in jeeps). That same 4.3 is in my Jeep now and I think it is a great engine; it has enough power to move out and it is a little smaller and lighter (although it is no ecotec) If I remember correctly 1988 was the first year those trucks got the 4.3 tbi. Before that they used the 2.8 which is kinda crappy. I don't remember what kind of manual transmissions they used.
