Sigmund did not want to scare people so he left his family. Two kids found him and befriended him, and they had to continuously hide him from other people. And save him from his family that wanted him to do bad things.

There are some people out there that divulge themselves into some serious drug use.

These were from the late 60's and 70's. So they were probably tripping on shrooms or acid when they wrote them.
