have you ever had a problem with a dana 35?

guys I just blew my motor in my XJ. I got my hands a free 2.5 liter. I think im going to swap it in instead of buying a 4.0 for 150 bucks. can you guys tell me how much they suck? I mean, I hear they are terrible and have no balls whatsoever, but i think im going to run it anyway...afterall, it was free. thoughts? (I wont listen to you anyway)

I'm gonna leave the last post I made up because we need to toughen you up bud. Try to relax and not take anything here too seriously. We're all good people who just believe in tough love.

My advice to you, if you want to run a D35, go for it. but make sure you have spares, a good jack, and extra fluid when you wheel. I've snapped on literally pebbles before, it doesnt take much even if you have a light foot.

I will say that the worst part about snapping one has nothing to do with fixing it, but the bad feeling you get knowing that you are wasting everyone elses time as they wait for you to make repairs. Its not cool to be that guy, and although it happens to everyone, intentionally running weak parts makes you a bit of an asshole when it comes to club runs. I am the biggest offender when it comes to this and although its been years I still feel bad for wasting alot of my friends time because I thought a D35 would hold up.

If thats all you can get your hands on at the moment, then thats fine, run it. just be careful on the skinny petal and listen to me when I say it doesnt take much.

If you are still mad about my comment, my apologies. If you would like I'll throw you an emergency repair kit that includes all the internal parts/shafts etc. of a D35, just so you have them.

fred is the nicest guy on here, cause if you broke that dana 35 on the trail, he'd help you fix it.

I'd call you a f-ing idiot and continue on wheeling without you. When it comes to dana 35's, everyone knows they are junk. So when i wanna go wheel my truck, i'm not getting my whole day held up cause some asswad blew up a 35. And no i'm not saying things don't break, but a dana 35 break carries almost no sympathy.

And if fred still ran a dana 35, i'd help him if he broke it, but he's the only one. and thats cause there'd be beer involved at that point
