REI ftw, their store brand bags are awesome, there selection is sweet, and im pretty sure you can get free shipping to their store (West Hartford), also if you shop alot pay the $20 one time fee, itll pay itself off in half a year.

Cabelas is nice, but their bag selection ive found lacking. The jacket selection is good as long as you're good with stuff from columbia, cabela brand, or carhart. everything else they have is overpriced/overrated North Face/Spyder gear...

In terms of bags definately check out the REI brand, also very good is Big Agnes, and as much as i hate to push North Face, their bags have remained good despite the rest of their line becoming more commercial and less true to the outdoors lifestyle

i go to campmor.com a lot. REI i guess is very anti-offroad anything if that matters to you.

EMS is nice but ive found their store brand stuff to not be as comprehensively well-built as the REI, but if youre looking for name brand than either is pretty equal, although REI has a no-questions asked return policy when it comes to returnign online orders

I'll have to ask my friend but he turned me on to a site that always had awesome stuff and was wicked cheap

edit. it's steep and cheap, there is a ridiculous sale on one item at a time, i think for 30 mins or 1 hour each, stuff goes pretty quick since there are thousands of people watching it on their iphones and crap

when I got all my backpacking gear for the AT I got it all at REI, good prices and good info if you catch the right salesperson
