  • 35s on a xj with 5.5 inch lift

So allot of people keep telling me it wont work on my xj. Tires will rub to bad you will have no flex. I want to proove them all wrong so i am turning to you people of to help me make my xj work with 35x12.50-15 tires. So to all you running 35s on 4.5 inch lift of similar set ups to mine please tell me any knowlege i should have with setting my jeep up for 35s. I just want to make them fit right and the jeep to flex nice or the same way it does now.
soon i will also have a 8.8 or d44 for the rear and 4.88 gears.

Cut the fenders, relocate or remove the washer bottle if necessary, hammer out the seam. Get creative with the hammer and bang out any protrusions that you think will hit the tire. You might need to either run spacers or get a wheel with less backspacing to keep from rubbing your control arms.

I have to cut and fold the rear still cut the front a tiny bit more. My main thing is setting up the bumpstops have no clue how i should properly set them up. i have a set of 35x13.50-15 toyo mts on my jeep today they didnt hit my long arms just main thing is bumpstopping for me. what size bumpstops are alot of you running i have 4.5 inch coils with a puck up front. I know you all hate this but i might get 6.5 inch coils for the front.

                      adding lift doesnt stop rubbing.

                      removing fender does.

going higher doesnt make the wheel wells bigger. big tires rub wheel wells because they are big and the wheel well is not.

bumpstops stop the tire from hitting the top of the fender, or fender well.

thats as simple as it gets

do not go taller. you can run 3" coils or 6" coils, the tire will still rub the fender exactly the same. just flex it out when its got 35's on it and measure how many inches of bumps you need then put that many hockey pucks in it. done

I know but the 6.5 inch coils will travel alittle more than my 4.5 inch ones so more flexxy that was why i was thinking of the 6.5s.

i run sagged 4.5" coils and a 3/4" spacers. its prob between 4.5 and 5" of lift right now. and my bumps (with the exception of the broken prothane) are about 3 or 4 inches from the bump tower. set up your bumpstops so that your tire wont hit the fender when you flex. so flex it out, figure out how tall you need to make a lower bump (hockey pucks are popular) and bingo.

this pic was taken before i had the spacer in there so they look closer than they do now
