i run 35s on my 30, have been for 2 years...i blew up a ujoint once but that was my own fault being a dumbass..coulda been easily avoided..but thats 2 years of wheelin. i dont slam on my rig but i dont stick to only easy trails at all either..
carry spares like dana said...if u dont break u dont break, ive never had use for the upgrade so i just carry 2 spare shafts. paid 40 total for em both from harrys u pull it. cheap insurance i say.
Thank you all once again for the help2006 Rubicon - high rock bumper, warn 9.5ti, and lots of stockness....for now...

my front end is open diffed. but i see it as a double edged sword. i dont keep it unlocked due to strength really.. i firmly believe i blew up my ujoint because i was open...was a lot of shockload involved when the tire decided to start spinning and catch one way, it was on ice and i had mashed the pedal to the floor a few times..if i had a locker they would just both spun freely instead of harsh shockloading. ...on the other hand when u have a locker, if u arent wedged or anything, theres no shockload because the tire is always spinning with the other...
its really not cut and dry enough to say a 30 is weaker when locked IMO..it works both ways evenly.
thats my stance...i say test the waters with the 30, youre way more than likely to blow a shaft/ujoint than r&p so just carry spares, theyre cheap and plentiful everywhere
if it becomes an issue, upgrade time.- Will

No fronts have c-clips that is only a rear thing.
One of the ways to hold the axle in.
The front axles are held in at the hub.RCrocs #123 Brown CJ-5
