It could be an air pocket in the cooling system, the 4.0's always get an air pocket in the front of the block/head because the motor is tilted back, especially if you have a t-case drop on it and the cooling system was opened up when the waterpump was replaced,i'd try bleeding it with a cooling system funnel on the radiator with some coolant in it and jack the back of the jeep up till the engine is level and run it for abot 15-20 minutes, hold the rpm at about 1500 for a couple minutes.Been dealinwith these 4.0 issues for years at work and always try the easiest and cheapest thing first, hope this helps, good luck.

My last xj had the hood lift in the rear and hood vents. I have the hood vents on this one and I love them. I think if I didn't have the vents I would lift the back for looks but I didn't feel like fabbing it up. The vents are sexy though.Originally posted by dizzy View Posti had this issue will i put all new hoses in cleared my heater core with the garden hose new t stat and a heavy duty fan clutch i also did the hood bum in the rear and it runs at 190 nowWatch your backhoe, I'm the John Deere man.
