I was just wondering if anyone here has replaced there mechanical fan with an electric one. Does anyone know what i would need to do this, and were i could get it? Are there any kits out for somthing like this?
Thanks
Heres a question i have, but i have no clue about wireing. Where do you wire an electric fan to, so that it goes on and stays on all the time. This is more of just a general electrical question i have.
The Taurus fan is a 2 speed fan. For mine I used 2 relays, one for high and one for low. Used a 3 position switch. I hooked up a t-stat to the low speed side of the fan so I can leave it on and it kicks on when needed, high is good for winching and its nice to be able to turn it off if you need to.
i have a switch set that gets power directly from the battery..... basically i bypassed everything. battery to switch, switch to fan, fan to ground. its simple, it works i just always have to remember to turn the switch on.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

that actually sounds like a pretty cool way of doing it.

Put a relay in there. There isn't much of a need to run 12V to a switch

Thats what i dont want to do, Remebering to turn it on will be no problem, its turning it off.
Summit racing has temp switch fan relay setups pretty simple
But the question is why would you wan to go to an electric fan over a mechanical fan?
Mechanical fan are better more efficient always running don't burn out etc.
Most fans are not designed to run non stop so I wouldn't connect them to key on.
If you need more cooling I would look into running a electric fan with your mechanical fan, or vent the hood you need to let the hot air out somehow.
Do some searching if you like Racedezert.com has some good information on electric vs mechanical fans, probably not for an XJ but concept still applies.
in the battle of electric fans vs. mechanical fan.......
I can tell you 9 times out of 10 its almost always cheaper and easier to run an electric fan.
look at it this way... fan clutch's new cost about 30-35 bucks, new mechanical fan 35-45 bucks.Where a brand new electric fan can be had from anywhere between 30-50 bucks. Also with mechanical you need to figure out a shroud setup otherwise the fan will not be as effective.
also depends on the application but i'll put my money on a good e fan anyday.

I do got one question. I have an electronic fan at my home but it works on a fix stable speed no matter if I increase the speed or not. As it is really hot in here it is difficult. So can anyone explain where might the problem could be?

i think you may want to look into a central air system
