AW4 won't go into 1/2

i put a grand cherokee shift knob on my XJ's AW4 and about a week later i discovered it won't go into 1/2. anyone know if the knob itself would cause this, or if it's something else?

rip the knob off, pull out the plastic anal beads from the shifter (yea that white thing you see when the knob is off, grab it. clean it off real good, grease it up nice, put it back in, try it.

if it still dont work you gotta adjust the cable.
