  • what rear end?

    96 xj auto tyranny. It has an 8 25 but is it a 27 or 29 spline? Thanks

    Easiest thing is to pull the shafts and check.

    96 was the switchover year if I'm not mistaken, it could have either.

      Yeah I thought it was the year they switched but wasn't positive if it was 97. Ill just have to pull them.

              Look at the year of manufacture... the later it is the more likely it is to have the 29 spline. if i remember right though Jon on the forums had a later manufacture date for his 96 and he was still a 27 spline.

                  i had one that had one 29 spline shaft and the other a 27 spline shaft

                  it was made on a crossover day

                      Haha that's classic. I can see them in the factory like uhhh what do you mean were out of 27 splines? Take it out? Fuck that noise the other sides getting a 29. This made me laugh haha

                        ive only read that 97 was the crossover year but hey that could have started early

                            So the later in the year it was made the higher the chance of a 29 being in there pretty much. Not necessarily though
