  • Brake Upgrades

I might be buying the 95+ brake booster from someone on here, but i've heard of a bunch of upgrades like the YJ master cylinder and the WJ stuff.

What is a good upgrade from a 1989 master cylinder that people on here run? prices would also be good.

The master cylinder and all that should definitely help. Also what might help as well is your sig says you have an 8.8, if it doesn't have discs already you should put some in. Made a huge difference putting the ZJ disks on my Jeep, and what made an even bigger difference yet is installing a ZJ proportioning valve on it which I would recommend if you haven't done anything to yours. Besides that its all just stock 2001 XJ stuff and it stops better on 33's than it did stock tires.
01 XJ 3" on 33's and some new paint n stuff. Gone.

The WJ setup is probably the best way to go for brakes/steering on a D30 front.

The rotors and calipers are bigger, and the knuckles give you true crossover steering. Someone else that knows more about the swap can elaborate better than me.

Even, im not gonna be going that far in-depth for front end mods, Just planning on the brake booster/master cylinder swap.

If i do the 95 master cylinder, would it be best to do a diff. proportioning valve?

i have heard of durango and 1 ton master cylinder swaps.

but never other jeeps for an improvement

if you have rear discs run the innards from a zj (w/ disc) prop valve. or be cheap and take the o-ring in there out.

Well the one from the ZJ bolts in after forming a couple short brake lines to fit it in. Or for free and some less trouble you can do this
              http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/..._Valve_Mod.htm

I did that valve o-ring mod on mine for awhile, almost no difference in performance between that mod and my new ZJ prop valve, though you really should do one of them, either of them will vastly improve your stopping power. Also, you shouldn't need to change the valve just because you put in a new master, however if you have rear disks you should have done it a long time ago since they prolly work like shit running at a pressure adequate for drums.

Is there any specific years to get a prop valve off of?

Doesnt matter, any ZJ with Disks will work. I have a spare I can sell you if you really want it too.

WJ master cyl/booster made a HUGE difference on my jeep.

the MC piston is bigger, and the booster is GIGANTIC.

here's a pretty good list of what you can swap into an xj/mj from other vehicles
