  • Front Stretch Idea

This is an idea to move the front axle forward ~3" without messing with the steering box.

i guess im a bit confused... but how does moving you steering forward on the knuckle helpp with a stretch?? will your steering box have enough throw in it?

    maybe explain a bit more

its so your steering doesn't come in contact (cross over itself) / bind up

        i don't like it.

        and i dont understand it

the drag link will still hit the tie rod at full stuff.

also you will needz a longer pitman arm to make up for the added knuckle length. you lose some sturring with it setup like that

its directly above the tie rod. a longer pitman arm seems like it would put it in the trackbar

i don't see how this alleviates the "binding" either

my steering hits a little, but it dont bother me

yea. aside from all the fun stuff i posted. that "bracket" does not sit well with me.

and dana, for what its worth, my axle is about 1.5" forward from stock and i has no issues

I just don't see how this would work with me, if my axle was any farther forward my drag link would be so far behind my tie rod that any movement would cause binding and rubbage

the only thing i can see doing is making my own steering and having a draglink with a hiem mounted in double sheer siting a little inboard on the tie rod

one of my drag link rod ends is bent enough where it hits my tie rod. it doesn't make noise or bind or anything, just makes rub marks.

                        i don't worry about it.

the only real fix is steering box reloaction, or clocking.

of course if you only run so much uptravel you can do a crossover type setup and be fine

I don't understand what that is trying to accomplish.

You can only compress the suspension until the pitman arm hits the drag link how is this better than inverted T or the other knuckle with the higher Tie rod mount?

I actually bent my Drag link so my pitman arm doesn't come into contact and I bent my tie rod so it doesn't hit the drag link.
Moving the Box forward is and option but then you end up hitting it on everything.
