  • pinion/carrier bearing?

this morning on my way to work noticed a squeek while driving only when im moving no matter what speed im going, im assumming its going to be either the pinion or carrier bearings in one of the axles. does anyone else have any other ideas of what this might be? and if this is the problem im going to need someone to just set up my dana 44 with gears and a locker instead of tossing money into the turd that probably just bit the dust.

I'm sorry but do you really expect someone to diagnose a squeak over the internet?

Do some investigation work and listen where it is coming from. You can try eliminating things like drive shaft see if the noise goes away.
Or put it up on jack stands and crawl underneath it with the tires spinning and see if you can locate where the squeak is coming from.
Get a stethoscope that might help.

Does it happen all the time in any gear straight or turning everything little bit of information helps.

My definition of a squeak must be totally different than yours. I never heard a bearing squeak, howl, grind yes but not squeak.

Sorry don't think the internet is going to help you with this one if you cannot determine the source of the noise try to find someone to help. Noises can be hard to diagnose.

dude a squeak could be simple like a ujoint, could be a pinion seal. Why do you think its the bearings? But who knows, i cant hear your jeep over the interwebs

was thinking the brakes too, i'm going to try to put it on a lift tonight and let the tires spin . noise always happens when i'm turning or going straight.

does it happen per tire revolution or about 3-5 times per tire revolution? (depending on what gears you run)

this will significantly narrow down the possible causes

so its not the brakes. I lifted the tires off the ground and let them spin and heard a little bit of noise nothing compared to driving it on the road, sounds like it could be the bearing on the drivers side but im not sure. the sound seems to have gotton louder, i suppose it sounds more like a howl now
