  • 96 burban tail light problems

im having trouble figuring out why a tail light is out on a 96 suburban. bulbs arent the problem. I replaced the bulbs as well as the rear connector plate that the harness plugs into and holds the bulbs. its looks like this.

and bolts to the back of the tail light like so:

I checked power at the connector with both a multimeter and a test light. i got about 4 volts at the connector as it was blinking. I also checked continuity through the new bulb holder plate thingy and that was fine. brake lights and park lights work. however, I do not have power at the connector (where the bulb plugs in) when the harness is plugged into the plate.

could this be a bad ground and its just not completing the circuit? I figure if i have power at the end of the harness, the blinker switch is fine, so i canceled that out. I didnt check fuses either but i will. both blinkers would probably be on one fuse I would think so who knows.

im lost. anyone have any ideas? or does anyone have access to a wire diagram?

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

I had a similar issue ony my 85 monte carlo SS it tures out it was a broken wire on the floorboard, not saying that your problem is that but...
