anyone know if the Tom Woods "GOLD SEAL" U-Joint is just for the drive shaft or if they will work in a d30 front 297 shaft...?

this is how they list it but i dont see an application specified..

    1310 series..................$20.00 each

    1330 & 1350 series......$25.00 each

if im not mistaken, i do believe the 1310 is the same joint as the 297

the stronger cold forged spicer version of the 297x joint can be had for 22 bux http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p477...rsal_join.html

a 1310 driveshaft u-joint is different than the 760, its alittle shorter across from cap to cap and has smaller diametere caps and a grease fitting, i can take pics if need be, i have spares in the jeep

I get all my u-joints and bearings from fleetpride in milford.....
Spicer brand axle u joints are part number 5-760x and cost 27 bucks
Spicer brand driveshaft u-joints, the 1310, are part number 5-153x and cost 10 bucks even. and they are plenty strong for what you need.

.....and honestly i wouldn't spend a lot of money on super strong u joints to put in stock shafts, i'd rather my u joint snap and hope the shaft lived through it. Esp when running the 760's with 35's, i think it should be fine, also the spicer 760 is the same size joint, and in some applications "the" joint, that most 44 shaft's use (waggy, ford, etc.)

If you upgrade to chromo's deff through some higher money, expensive joints in dem.

No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.
