i gotta replace the 2 bald stt's I have soon, and getting a good price on stt's seems to be tough so i may just get some km2's for the rear. Any reason this would be a bad idea? ive never tried runnign different front/rear tires but I cant really see why it would be an issue.

I would put the new (larger) tires up front.
If the fronts are pulling more it will want to go where the fronts are pointed, If rear pushing more the rear will want to pass the fronts not a good idea.
In 2wd it wouldn't make a difference and off road crawling would never notice a difference.RCrocs #123 Brown CJ-5

Your NEVER supposed to mix tire treads on any of the more sophisticated 4x4 systems. What T case does your jeep have? If it has the full time setting or a quadradrive or AWD t case that may become an issue. Supposedly it can screw things up by having different traction front vs rear because of the tread difference.
If you just have an np231 or np242 you should be fine.
I would NOT do it if you have the AWD np249Lady bugs don't like it when you paint stripes on them
