  • axle swap option

going with 33x10.5 km2's probably in a couple of months...last time i asked this question i had my stock 3.55s but now im running 4.10s SO i kind of dont want to pay for gears/install for another axle but i might have to...

    my options:

    1. keep the dana 35 (alloy usa now makes stronger shafts for the WJ dana 35) are they worth it? i doubt id break a ring and pinion and or carrier the way i wheel but an axle shaft breaking may take place

    2. find an open 44a truss/skid it, buy gears for it have them installed and pray to find an aussie for it

    3. find an 8.8 with 4.10s and pay for someone to get it in/put some type of locker in it...

i dont see 8.8s any lower than 250$ where im at is this normal? im pretty new to axle swaps and i lack the skill to do it myself. whats a ball park price to get an axle put it considering brackets/wheel adapters/fab work etc etc..

what about brakes? would my lines work with a different axle? which 8.8s should i be looking out for..

do you guys think its worth it to swap in a new axle or should i try my luck with the d35 with stronger shafts? again this is my DD as well..

I would go with the 8.8 but ditch the flange. You can get the bracketry from ballistic fabrication or ruff stuff for around 100 dollars. Also if you get an 8.8 get the c-clip elim it makes it so nice to pull the shafts with the locker in it. Your brake lines will work with it and it is disk brake if you get the 96 and up which is 31 spline out of an explorer

i got an 8.8 for free a few months ago

idk if anyone sells bracketry designed for the WJ? i guess the control arms you can use any type of basic mount but what about the pos a-arm that we have? could i just make something out of 1/4" and weld it on top of the diff housing?

Im sure there is a company that makes swaps for them. Or you could truss it and make that mount up top.
