  • rough country 2.5 lift

has anyone had any experience with this lift? i am looking into possibly getting one in the spring for my tj and i am beginning to hear mixed things. it looks like a great kit and is real cheap too with a respectable company name.

    1. do the springs sag after being installed for a while?

    2. are there problems with not being able to get extended brake lines for it? i seem to have read this complaint a few times.

    3. any other personal experience that anyone here can talk about with this lift would be helpful in swaying me to look for a different kit or keep looking at this one.

    4. i have also heard that old man emu lifts are real great but what i've seen so far is a bit out of my price range. i don't want to spend too much because i am eventually gonna jump to a 3 or 4 inch kit with some more bells and whistles so for now the price is right on it. but could anyone also compare the OME with the RC? or any other lifts of the same size? no spacer lifts though, i want to do springs.

My friend had a rough country, and to say the least it wasn't a very nice lift. I would say save the money and do the size lift you want instead of spending money now and try to sell it off later on.

Rough country has come a long way from what they started as.. My buddy just put their long arm in his XJ and other than the fact that it hangs a little low as do many other kits its pure beef!. I've personaly had 2 RC kits never one problem as well as 8 friends that have ran RC in serveral trucks with no problems. Their customer service is kick ass to!

I agree, buy a cheap spacer kit if you plan on upgrading but you need lift now, don't waste money replacing parts you should buy once

well see when i say it's a short term thing i really mean that it is pretty long term. like at least three years worth. and with it being only 300$ i feel that it is worth it. i am going to college next year so money is gonna be tight and i need to do kind of a lot of upgrades at once to get a 4in lift and the 33s or 35s that i want. but to do that i want to get a new rear axle and would have to gear that and my front for a 2.5L engine and while im doing all that i want to do the lockers in those axles as well. SO it's all a lot of money away which is why i think the small suspension lift for now would be a good idea because i want to have a REAL suspension lift thatll actually give me some performance over a spacer lift.
