  • Alternator Q??

My alternator pully sounds like its going to die....should I upgrade to a ZJ V8 Alt. or stick with stock? Direct swap? No change in brackets/belt?

I'll be junkyard shopping - already have a stock Alt here in the garage as a spare.

I'm not running any extra lights - might add a couple up front and aux backup lights in the future though.

what year XJ? thatll determine if you can upgrade to the ZJ/durango/grand caravan one or not.

i had my 93 alt (90A) wound up to 120A when i got it rebuilt for no extra charge.

when it comes to electrical stuff i like to keep things simple. less stuff to go wrong

if ya don't need the extra power, why get it?

97 will take a grand chero one. i think durangos, and grand caravan ones are 140.

Didn't know if it would be worthwhile since I'd only add a couple lights....same cost at the junkyard whether I get a stock replacement or one from a ZJ....I'll probably just go with a stock replacement and keep it simple.
