so i bought the btf stretch, and i have a set of stock xj leaf springs and i'm tight on cash, i was thinking maybe Rusty's 3.5 add a leaf to beef it up and make it a little bigger, what other options do i have?? i have the procomp 4" lift full leaf packs, couls i cannibalize them and add some of those springs to the xj leaf pack, also how can i prevent axle wrap, i don;t have the cash to make a anti-wrap bar. All advice is appreciated thanks.

if you cant afford a 1 ton stretch build, dont do a 1 ton stretch build
taking short cuts will only slow you down in the long run and your group down when you break shit due to something poorly set up- Will

Times fucking two.
Don't bastardize everything or we will all hate you when you break on the trail and if you will be running procomps, don't even drive near my jeep. that curse is fuckin real you know.
Want to prevent axle wrap? stay sprung under.Last edited by Buffalo Phil; 02-25-2009, 10:01 PM.sigpic

Why not just keep it at stock wheelbase for now? Put the axles under there and get some tires and be done with it. Then when you have the money stretch it.-Caleb

hey... tell ya wat.. im gona say
1. do a shit load of research... and i mean spend hours cruizing the web.
2. get a welder
3. build it cheap as ya can but build it right.
4. dont let people put ya down for having an idea, but stick too your plan, and take your time.
5.you can really mix and play around with leafs till your at a happy height. to me springs are springs, and leaf springs are cheap enough so you can bastard something together and have a simple set up.

highlighted crucial points of this one
either way, slapping shit together for cheap cuz u didnt have the money is not how to do things on a car you drive around..not really talkin about leaf combos, but a rustys AAL is less than ideal on a rig that wants to run 40s on 1 tons...just thinkin outloud on that one, lol
save for somethng worth installing- Will
