2000 WJ 4.0 HVAC issue

My cousin is driving an 00 WJ for work, its got a 4.0 in it.

It has been tripping the HVAC fuse in the jeep, so his boss in his infinite wisdom puit a higher amp fuse in to keep it from failing...needless to say it isnt tripping now but whatever the issue is is now magnified as a result.

When the jeep is turned on, white smoke comes out through the hood...

I know jackshit about HVAC and to be honest, WJs, so does anyone here have any ideas as to what the issue could be here? Or why its doing this?

Maybe he can get more details when he gets online, just tryin to help him out here as he is out.

shot blower motor, shot blower motor resistor, either of which resulting in or the issue by itself is a melted blower motor connector. which now it is DEFINITELY melted due to the white electrical death smoke. ratchford's TJ had this problem and it was a fucking mess.. had to replace the entire HVAC harness. he blew the motor resistor, left it and a bad motor melted the shit.

it was probably simple before, now its gonna be a headache.
