ummm trans cooler, cost 20 bucks and takes half an hour max to mount and install.
band aid on a bullet wound. a trans cooler isnt gonna help a tranny trying to turn way oversize tires at a motor speed that was never designed to turn stock size tires at highway speeds.
1600 RPMs + 33s (weight AND size) + trying to accelerate from 55 to 65 = crying tranny.
Dude, You're in Milford. Ill tell ya what. Take my jeep for a spin next time I'm around, I bet you won't notice a difference. PM me if you want to set something up.
that $503 seems cheap now, but you're going to have to factor in the fact that someone setting up your axles is gonna charge 300 minimum per axle with them in the vehicle. (300 being an amazing price, most charge about that much to do an axle out of vehicle)
and IMO spend alittle bit more and order yukon gears and yukon install kits from them, its only like 50 more per axle and its just some added assurance with a quality product.
.... and i'd get lockers first. They are well worth the money and driving on 33's with 3.55's really isnt that bad, i did it for 7 months, it kinda sucks, but its not terrible.
I know thats why i am now leaning toward the locker...if i get the locker then i can wait to get the 33's and still use what i just bought. If i get gears i dont think i would have money to install them plus i would need the 600$ for the tires on top of the install. i dont have that.
Everyone who says it sucks bad is now geared or has been geared at one time and now isn't (Ie Sam)
Everyone who says its not that bad is not geared and hasn't owned a Jeep with lower gears.
So, in short, most of us that don't know any better will tell you its not bad but the people that have it done think its the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Yeah, so if he's never had gears before (which he hasn't) then he won't know what he's missing. Everyone not geared on 33's say they don't notice a difference.
/shrug.

the higher the gears the more stress on everything else
engine will lug
tranny will slip and heat up
more prone to driveshaft breakage
its not just a "oh its not that bad" kinda thing. it also contributes to the reliability of the rig
I just don't think for a while while the person is building a jeep there will be any problem. Look at how many people here run that combo without issues. /shrug.
It's not my business, I know I can't afford gears.

this is just a discussion, and we are both offering our takes on it.
the facts are there, but yea you can get away with it, and yes your drivetrain will hate you for it

Very good Evan. Sam explained the stress on the vehicle. A lot of the other posts, including mine were about comfort and the difference you feel and such. Both myself and Mr. Maru summarized that people who have been geared say it runs like shit and those who haven't experienced it have explained they don't notice a difference.
Thank you for your redundant input though, it's always a pleasure to read.
